Substance Abuse/Dependency Counselor

DUTIES: Develop and oversee client-specific substance abuse treatment plans; coordinate communication of treatment with parents and/or other collateral contacts; conduct individual, family, and/or group counseling sessions; prepare and maintain client records in accordance with licensing guidelines; provide supervision, direction, and training related to substance abuse/addiction to non-licensed field staff; work with the Program and Clinical Directors to continually improve and develop effective treatment courses.

QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of experience, education, and training equivalent to 4 years of substance abuse counseling/therapy experience is required; BS/BA or MS/MA preferred; the incumbent must be licensed in Utah as a substance abuse counselor or be able to obtain such licensure within 3 months; CPR, 1 st Aid, and CPI certifications are required; outdoor, personal recovery, and 12-step model experience is preferred; occasionally, staying overnight in the field is required; the incumbent should posses strong therapeutic, wilderness, interpersonal, and technical skills.
