/p Because every Client and Family is unique, Wilderness Quest's staff makes aftercare recommendations at the end of each program, in conjunction with referring agencies, counselors or consultants. Some examples are:

  • Self-help, counseling, and aftercare meetings at home
  • Continued treatment at Wilderness Quest
  • Residential placement
Group Dynamics

Each group has 8 coed clients maximum (Young Adult group ages 18-28)

Each group has 8 coed clients maximum (Adolescent group ages 14-17) 


WILDERNESS QUEST is Very Successful With:
  • Wilderness Quest's specialty and most successful areas are substance use/abuse treatment and family systems education
  • Low self-esteem
  • Depression
  • Attention deficit issues
  • Anger (no violence towards persons)
  • Emotional pain
  • Sexual, physical and/or emotional abuse
  • Frustration from learning differences
  • Entitlement issues
  • Inappropriate sexual behavior
  • Oppositional behavior
  • Abandonment issues:
    • Adoption
    • Divorce
    • Attachment issues
Wilderness Quest Can Only Accept On A Case By Case Basis (Things Considered):
  • Overweight
  • High blood pressure
  • Heart disease
  • Recent suicide attempts
  • Physical handicap
  • Psychotropic medications
Wilderness Quest Accepts Young Adults 18 to 28 Challenged With:
  • Alcohol/drug abuse and addiction
  • Failure in college
  • Immaturity
  • Fear of adulthood
  • Fear of responsibility
Wilderness Quest Is Not Successful With and Can Not Accept:
  • Diabetic
  • Grand Mal Epilepsy
  • Full Scale IQ 89 or under
  • Hypoglycemic
  • Renal disease
  • Arthritis that would hinder hiking or physical activity
  • Pregnancy
  • History of physical violence against persons
  • Sexual abuse of teenage peers
  • Psychotic
  • Delusions
  • Chronic Schizophrenic
  • Schizoid Personality Disorder
  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis (if contagious)
  • HIV positive
  • Any contagious disease, chicken pox, measles, etc.
  • Hepatitis A, B, C (if contagious)
